Guardian Angel
I was walking on a street with my friend when I was stopped by an old man. He did not ask much and started to explain that he is a guardian angel of tourists and foreigners in Chandigarh. He showed a couple of years old article from the newspapers and his notebook where all the foreigners he met wrote something in their own language. This is the article:
Sola sector - sector 16 (sector where I live) Centis D - 37 D (sector where I work) Dae - right Bae - left Chalo - lets go Sidha - straight Rok Do. - Stop. Main thik hun. - I am fine. Kasse ho? - How are you? tike - it is ok tike? - are you ok? namaste - hello hanji - yes, sir ha - yes Miranam Natasa he. - My name is Natasa. Sukria - thank you
Things I learned about India
- For a driving license Indians have to pay Rs. 300. They do not take any test or practise. - Best indian phrase is: Lets think about it. - Nearly everything what children do must be aproved by their parents - which school to go, which country to go, which opportunity to take. If kids want something else than their parents they have to fight with them a lot. - Indians have 2 types of marriages - arranged marriages where you meet a groom in a day of wedding and love marriages where you marry a person whom you love. Still there are more arranged marriages than love marriages. - Indians have salty lemonade. - India has its own Hollywood - Bollywood. - Girls do not wear shorts. Those who wear jeans are probably from higher class and their parents are very open minded. Others have to wear traditional costumes. - Indian traffic is a chaos that somehow works - Indian people do not use back mirrors in cars because they do not have them - The language is Hindi English - they mix these languages together. - Cows in streets do not belong to anybody. They just stopped milking and people let them go to die in a natural way
Facts about India
- There is nothing right or wrong in India. It is just Indian. - There are more men then women in India. - Over 1 billion inhabitants - Second most inhabited country in the world - Seventh largest country in the world - most popular religions - Hinduism, sikhizm - number of billionairs doubled in the last year - all Indians can speak English because they have around 50 languages and each of them is very different. The one in Chandigarh is Hindi and Punjabi.
